CROP WALK
This year's
Walk was held on Sunday, September 23, 2007
at Mailly
Waterfront Park, Bowdoinham at 12:00 noon.
"We Walk
Because They Walk"
This year Bowdoinham and some 2,000 cities and towns
nationwide joined together in interfaith community CROP Hunger Walks around
the theme "We walk because they walk." Many of the CROP Walkers
displayed this theme on T-shirts, buttons and signs proclaiming their solidarity
with the millions of neighbors around the world who have to walk to live -- as
well as with the millions served by local food pantries, food banks, and meal
sites here in the U.S. These local ministries share in the funds raised by CROP
Hunger Walks.
This
was Bowdoinham's third year of walking and it was our biggest
to date - we raised over $1500.00! "Thank
You" to all who walked, raised money or
donated.

CROP WALK is part of Church
World Service (CWS), the relief, development, and refugee assistance
ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations in the
United States. Working in partnership with indigenous organizations in
more than 80 countries, CWS works worldwide to meet human needs and foster
self-reliance for all whose way is hard. Within the United States, Church
World Service assists communities in responding to disasters, resettles
refugees, promotes fair national and international policies, provides
educational resources, and offers opportunities to join a people-to-people
network of local and global caring through participation in CROP WALKS,
the TOOLS & BLANKETS Program, and the "Gift of the Heart";
Kit Program.
