CityGate Mission Trip Report

Destination:   “City Gate” Ministries, Washington , DC

Purpose:   Building Relationships, Multicultural experiences, Inner-city mission service

“City Gate” is an inner-city mission that brings the love of Christ to people in the poorest neighborhoods of Washington , DC . Founder, Rev. Lynn Bergfalk had a vision to bring to these neighborhoods basics such as education, food and after-school programs. Through “City Gate” ministries God’s love has been expressed in tangible ways to hundreds of people.  

During April Vacation four members of Second Baptist Church participated in a hands-on home mission trip - working within the ministries of CityGate in Washington, DC. As part of our experience, we built relationships with children and several homeless people at "Christ House"; we also served the ministries through painting, cleaning and repairing as well as learning how churches meet the needs of people in the inner-city setting.
